137 <br />RE:,OLUT TON FOR TRACK SEPARATION No. 1. <br />Resolved by the Board of Public Works of the City of South Bend, Indiana: -- <br />That it is deemed necessary that the grade crossings of the tracks of the <br />New York Central Railroad Company, formerly the Lake Shore & Mi chigan Southern Railroad <br />Company, a steam railroad, at the intersection of said tracks with Michigan Street, Bronson <br />Street, Main Street, Lafayette Street, Prairie Avenue, Scott Street and Chapin Street, all in <br />the City of South Bend, Indiana,, be altered by elevating the said tracks at said. inter- <br />sections. And that the change in ;. rade of said several intersecting streets, and the amounts <br />in feet oL' the clearance at each intersection between tie surface of each of such streets <br />as proposed by such new grade, and the bottom of Vue superstructure work over the same, <br />shall be as follovg'- <br />1. At the intersection of Michigan Street and the tracks of said Railroad <br />the, surface of said street shall be . depressed five fleet below the top of .the Highest rail of <br />tine tracks at the intersection as now raintained; clearance shall be sixteen (16) feet be- <br />tween the surface of the street as fixed above, and the bottom of the superstructure work <br />over said street; the grade of the approoch of s id street on the north shall 'be uniform <br />trade from the south line of South Street to the north line of the superstructure over said <br />street, and the grade of the approach on the south shall be ascendUng grade of two and one- <br />half (2--1/2) feet to each one hundred (100) feet frcan the south line of the superstructure. <br />2. At the intersection of Bronson Street and the tracks of said Railroad <br />which street intersects them at the same point that MicjUgan Street does, the depression and <br />the clearance shall be the same a.sis provided in No. One above for Michigan Street: the <br />grade of the approaches of said street shall be an ascending grade of three (3) feet to each <br />one hundred (100) feet each'way east and west from the east and west line of the super-i <br />structure over said street respectively. <br />3. At the intersection of Main Street and the tracks of said Railroad <br />the surface of said street snail be depressed one and six -tenths (1.6) feet below the top <br />oQ the highest rail of the tracks at said intersection as now maintained: clearance shall <br />be twelve L nd one-half (12-1/2) feet between the surface of the street .a.s fixed above and the <br />superstructure work over Faid street; the grade of the approach. of .aid strut on the north <br />small be level from ti'� north line of the superstructure until it intersects the present <br />street grade, and on the south the grade shall be an ascending grade of fomr-tenths (4/10) <br />foot to each one hundred (100) feet from the south line of the superstructure. <br />4. At the intersection of Lafayette Street and the tracks of said rail- <br />road, the surface of said street shall be depressed one and one -tenth (1-1/10) feet below the <br />top of the highest rail of the tracks at said intersection as now maintained; clearance <br />shall be twelve and one-half (12-1/2) Peet between the surface of the street as fixed above <br />and the superstructure work over said street; the grade of the approach of said street <br />north from the north line of the superstructure -shell be a straight line until it inter- <br />sects the present grade at the south line of South Street, and the grade of the approach <br />south from the south line of the superstructure shall be an ascending grade of one and <br />twenty-five-hundreths (1.25) feet to each one hundred (100) feet. <br />5. At the intersection of Prairie Avenue and the tracks of said Railroad the <br />surface of said street shall be depressedone and one-half (1-1/2) feet below the top of the hi <br />highest rail of the tracks at said intersection as now maintained; clearance shall be twelve <br />and one-half (12-1/2) feet between the surface of the street as fixed above and the super- <br />structure work over said street; the grade of the approach of said street on the north shall <br />be level from the north line of the superstructure until it intersects the present grade <br />on Taylor Street, end the grade of the approach on the south shall be level from the south <br />line of t ne superstructure until it intersects the present grade on Prairie Average. <br />6.
