Board met in regular session at 7:15 P.M. John F. De Haven absent. <br />Hearing had on Improvement Resolution No. 803 for pavement on <br />Walnut Street from ,Sample Street to North line of Indiana Avenue, in the City of <br />South Bend, Ind i�na. <br />In the above matter Mr. H. Sanders appeared and remonstrated <br />against said improvement, and the Board after due consideration decided to defer <br />all action on said resolution until Wednesday July 28th.,1020 at 7:15 P.M. <br />Hearing had on .Improvement Resolution No. 804 for the resurfacing of <br />pavement on North Michigan Street from North Shore Drive to North line of Wakewa <br />Avenue, in the City of South Bend, Indiana. <br />Upon said hearing remonstrators appeared but no written remonstrance <br />was filed. And the Board being fully advised in the premises , decides that the <br />benefits to property liable to be assessed for said improvements are equal to the <br />estimated oost of the same, as reported by the City Civil Engineer, as thereupon <br />takes final action on said resolution as originally adopted, and the same is hereby <br />in all things, ratified, confirmed and approved. <br />Resolved further, that notifies be published on the 23rd. day of July <br />1920 and on the 30th. day or July 1920 ins newspaper of General circulation in said <br />city, stating that this Board will receive bids for the construction of said improve <br />ment up to 10:00 A.M. on the loth. day of August 1920. The Board reserves the right <br />to reject any and all bids. <br />Hearing had on assessment roll and final estimate for Asphalt pavemeti <br />on Huron Street from alley East of Kosciuszko Street to Meade Street, under Improve- <br />ment Resolution No. 689. <br />In the above matter remonstrators appeared and a written rerronstra.ne <br />filed by Councilman John 01 jeniezak in regard to defects in curb and sidawasks <br />The Board therefore find that the property assessed in said roll filed July 7th. <br />1920 is benefited in the amount of assessments as hhown ,on said assessment roll <br />and the Board further find that the assessment roll filed July 7th.,1920 and the <br />final estimate allowed July 7th.,1920 should be and the same are hereby in all <br />things, ratified, confirmed and approved. The Board ordered the City Controller <br />notified to with -hold the sum of 01,000.00 until defects in sidewalk & curb are <br />fixed. Copy of remonstrance by John OliEniczak. <br />South Bend, Indiana. <br />To the Honorable Board of Public Works, <br />Gentlemen: - <br />I hereby submit to your Honorable Body the consddtion of sidewalk <br />and curbs on Ford Street and Huron Streets, which were damaged by the heavy <br />roller of the White Construction Co. while the above streets were being paved. <br />Corner of Phillip& and Ford Streets on the N. W. and N. E. corner of <br />streets crushed by the roller. Brookfield and Ford Streets N. E. corner of Walk <br />and curb crushed. <br />Jackson and Ford N. W. side of walk crushed in several placed due to <br />heavy loads of gravel passing over, and breaking the some. <br />'Jackson & Ford N. E. sidewalk briken, Ford Str. and Pulaski the N. E. <br />and N. W. Part of sidewalk borken. <br />Kosciuszko and Ford N. W. sidewalk crushed. <br />Huron and Jackson Streets N. E. corner about a foot of walk crushed <br />and broekn. <br />Huron and Brookfield S. <br />Huron and Grant Streets, <br />Warren and Huron S. W. <br />Carlisle and Huron S. W. <br />Phillip& and Huron S. E. <br />two places. <br />W. corner crushed. <br />same as above. <br />about half of walk damaged. <br />and N. W. side of the street sidewalk crushed. <br />walk damaged and also north west damaged in <br />Huron Street west if Olive on the north and south side of street up to <br />Meade Street curb broken in about ten places. <br />
