PARC Committee <br />2007 South Bend Common Council <br />The October 22, 2007 meeting of the PARC Committee of the South Bend Common <br />Council was called to order by its Chairperson, Council Member Ann Puzzello at 3:33 <br />p.m. in the Council's Informal Meeting Room. <br />Persons in attendance included Council Members Dieter, Pfeifer, Kelly, Varner, Rouse, <br />Kirsits, White and Puzzello; Citizen Member Mark D. Tulchinsky, Dennis Andres, Bernie <br />Feeney, Shawn Peterson, City Clerk John Voorde, Carl Littrell, Martha Lewis, Jamie <br />Loo of the South Bend Tribune and Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand, Council Attorney. <br />Council Member Puzzello noted that the Committee consisted of Council Members <br />Dieter, Kuspa, Kirsits and herself; and Citizen Member Mark D. Tulchinsky. <br />Biill No. 65-07: Proposed Ordinance To Appropriate $3,500 from the Morris <br />PerOforming Arts Center &Palais Royale Marketing Fund $ 273 <br />Council Member Puzzello called for a formal presentation on Bill No. 65-07 which <br />would appropriate $3,500 from the Morris Performing Arts Center and Palais Royale <br />Marketing Fund (Fund # 273) for the purchase and printing of Morris Performing Arts <br />Center ticket envelopes. <br />Dennis J. Andres, Executive Director of the Morris Performing Arts Center located at <br />211 North Michigan Street in downtown South Bend made the formal presentation. He <br />cir~alted the 2007 Fall edition of Wedding Day magazine which had an article and an <br />advertisement on the Palais Royale.. <br />Mr. Andres stated that the revenues from Fund # 273 are generated from the solicitation <br />of funding for commercial promotion sponsorships and the Morris marquee <br />sponsorships. He noted in response to a question from City Clerk John Voorde that the <br />appropriation would permit 50,000 envelopes to be ordered. <br />Dr. Varner noted that the renovations to the Morris and Palais make them great <br />downtown venues. He inquired about proposed developments to the north of the Morris <br />involving the old LaSalle Hotel. <br />Mr. Andres stated that he, Jeff Gibney and others met Friday with a person from <br />Chicago who is interested in developing that structure. 1St and 2"d floors would have <br />catering and meeting spaces, with living venues on the above floors. He stated that the <br />meeting was very "positive and amicable". Mr. Andres noted that performers and their <br />crews need space to live when they perform at these downtown venues. <br />Dr. Varner stated that such developments would make other downtown operations more <br />successful <br />
