South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Regular Meeting—December 13, 2011
6. NEW BUSINESS (CONT.)
C. Airport Economic Development Area
(3) continued...
centers requiring ten megawatts each, AEP
admitted they would be obligated to supply
it, but there is not the land at the substation to
accommodate the additional equipment that
would be needed. That substation only has
the capacity of 20 megawatts of power total.
Their solution is to put a substation at
Ignition Park.
Ms. Hathaway asked for Commission
approval of the proposal from BSA
LifeStructures for the feasibility study.
Upon a motion by Mr. Downes, seconded by COMMISSION APPROVED PROPOSAL FROM BSA
Mr. Varner and unanimously carried, the LIFESTRUCTURES FOR FEASIBILITY STUDY FOR A
Commission approved Proposal from BSA COMBINED COOLING,HEATING AND POWER
ENERGY CENTER AT IGNITION PARK.
LifeStructures for feasibility study for a
Combined Cooling, Heating and Power
Energy Center at Ignition Park.
(4) Proposal from BSA LifeStructures for
Ignition Park Accelerator Building
visioning and imagery development.
Ms. Hathaway noted the central focal point
of Ignition Park's Master Plan is a circle with
basin for storm water retention, gathering
green space with solar trees, wind spire that
defines the hub of the park and a building or
buildings that enhance the most significant
location within the Park. Definition of
design requirements for these structures is
imperative if we are to control the look of the
most important and visible elements within
the Park.
68
