CITY OF SOUTH BEND <br />EMERGENCY LIGHTING SYSTEM <br />The emergency lighting system must provide the vehicle with 360 degrees of <br />visual warn-ing ability The system must display highly perceptible and attention <br />getting signals that function in a modal system and convey the message in the <br />primary mode to clear the right of way. In the secondary mode hazard vehicle <br />stopped on right of way. <br />The basic warning light system shall contain twelve- red, one clear and one amber <br />light These lights shall function in a dual mode system as shown in KKK -A- 1822- <br />F and meet the physical and photo metric requirements of paragraph 3.8.2.1 of <br />that same document. The upper body warning lights shall be identical and <br />mounted at the extreme upper comer areas of the ambulance body below the <br />horizontal roof line, with the single clear light mounted between the two front <br />facing red upper comer lights and the amber light centered above the rear doors. <br />The two red grill lights shall be mounted per KKK -A- I 822-F specifications <br />without compromising the chassis manufacturer's air intake into the engine <br />compartment. <br />PHOTO METRIC AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS <br />As specified by KKK -A- I 822-F. All emergency light switches shall be labeled as <br />specifi-ed in paragraph 3.7.11 of KKK-A-1822-F, and the primary/secondary <br />mode switch(s) shall have an indicator light to show the driver which mode is <br />activated. All warning light control switches, as described in section 4.3.1 of this <br />document, shall be located in the driver control console and arranged to provide <br />the warning signal modes and combinations as specified in Table I of KKK-A- <br />1822-F, page 19. An independent test-ing laboratory will certify that the system <br />meets these requirements. Test documents to be included with this proposal. <br />White Light Cut -Off <br />White light cut-off switch. <br />To defeat all forward facing white light.
