As you know, he is suff erin.g from a tumor mass o� th e thorax, whi�h responded comAletely to radiation therapy. It was imposaible �or him to withstand additional radiation over the npper abdor,�en a't the time his chest was tre�tea. A mas� in the abdomen inereased- in size during th e treatment applfed to the chest. The abdominal area has been treated since Octaber 29, 1938. It is responding to treatment. � It is possible, of course, that PJIr. Cunningham may be completely relzeved and may therefore � return to t�ork. It is impossible to make a definite prediction without biopsy findings which are counterin dicated on account of the location of th e grotivth. Voelkel who had previously been assigned to the Fire �epartment, to the Police DepArtment, to begin du�ies on .a proba- tion period on Dece�ber l, subject to assignment by the Chief of Police and subject to physical examinatian by Dr. Pauszek, police physician. Application for a positzon on the Police Department was received from Richard E. Hanley, J'r. , and ordered placed on file. - A communication was received fram City Tr�ffic �ngineer, Ernest H. Miller, reporting on the experience at the intersections of- Willi�ns and 1V�onree and ��;'illiams and lYtadison, where the stop signs were changed about a year ago: The resul.t of this change showed. a decrease in accidents at 'Nilli�ms and IUlonroe of 82 per cent, and at ti�illi�ms and Madison of 8Q per cent. The communication was or- dered placed on file. � Traffic Engineer Niller reported upon the request of Dr. F.- � S. G. Penner for fifteen minute parking regulations in front oP his pl.�.ce of business. Mr.. g�iiller did not recommend granting the request for reasons outlined in his report, no�v on file. Dr. Penner was advised accordingly and given G copy of th� Engineer's report. This report is on file in the office of the Board of Safety.
