Due to the nature of the illness and the <br /> uncertainty of the officer's recoverg, the Board on regular motion bg <br /> I�Zr. Anderson, seconded by P�qr. Zillmer and duly carried",: placed Officer <br /> Curzningham on disability pension retirement, beginning Dec. lst,1938. <br /> "Dear Sir: <br /> Confirming my telephone report of yesterday in regard to Mr. Otis Cun- <br /> - ninghsm tivho has been on the sick list since August, 1938, becFUwe of a <br /> tumor mass in his thoracic cavity, und a.lso on e present in the abdon�inal <br /> c�vity. Becauss of the location o�' these tunor masses, zt vrds impossibZe <br /> to deterrnine the nature of this tursor growth, and xray treatment was �d- <br /> ti ised. <br /> Dr. Fisher has been treating irir. Cunningh�m since 1�ugust u5, 1938, and <br /> renorts the thoracic mass gone, but he is still treating th e abdominel <br /> mass. <br /> In viei�r of the nature of the disease and the poor physical condition of <br /> Mr. Cunningham, I doubt �}hether he will be able to return to vrork within <br /> the next four months, ip then. From the histories of this type of case, <br /> I doubt'�whether he will ever be able to do active duty. _ <br /> I sm enclosing the renort sent by lir.
