The Board concurred in this- su�gestion -and instructed <br /> the Chief to make the necessary arrangements. <br /> The Chief reported that the extension chimn ey on No. 2 <br /> Fire- House was in bad� condition and needs replacing. The Board <br /> authorized the replacement ta be made at onee. <br /> Application for position on. the Fire Depart�ent was <br /> presented by Byron C. Collogan and ordered �placed an Pile. <br /> Application for position on the Fire Department was <br /> presented by Roland' Arthur Penrod and ordered placed on file. <br /> ELECTRICAL DEPARTIviE�TTT - Mr. C�ualls present: <br /> The Board discussec��with Mr. Qualls the petition of Post <br /> No. 1167, Veter�.ns of Fore3gm Wars, and in view of the report <br /> of Officer Miller the Board felt that due to the limited <br /> accident experience in this vicinity no change in the present <br /> set-up is justified. ` ` � <br /> A reayuest Por the instal].atzon �of a street light at <br /> Irvington and Dale Streets was presented to the Board and <br /> Mr. Qualls was instructed t�o make an investigation and subnit <br /> his recommendations at the next meeting of the Board. <br /> Mr. Qualls requested �that he be gi.ven bne week from <br /> August 7th to 14th for part of his vacation this year. The <br /> Board agreed to give h�n thi:s time if it would not interfere <br /> with the consideration of the- 1938 budget by the Common Council. <br /> The City Physician, Dr. T. B. Pauszek, made a report of <br /> the services rendered by him to officers �in the Police and <br /> Fire Departments for the months of April; May and June. A <br /> oopy of this report has been submitted to each member of the <br /> Board and is also on file in the office of the Board of Public <br /> � Safety. . � <br /> A communication from Frr�ncis J: Bock to the Mayor was <br /> submitted to the Board vrith reference to the installation of <br /> two-zvay police radio communication. This matter v�Tas diseussed <br /> with the Chief who offered the opinion� that two-v:ay commun- <br /> ication was still in the experimental stage but that, no doubt, <br /> some time in the future t�ie� Police Department must seriously <br /> consider its installation.. Copy of thi s report was furnished <br /> each member of the Board for later consideration. <br />
