Gibbons of the National Safety <br /> Council to the meeting and together tivith 11iIr. C�ualls had a general <br /> discussion in regard to changes conterzplated in the tra�fic lights <br /> on Lincoln Way ti'1est. T:Ir. Qualls presented facts indicating that the <br /> cost of making these changes early this year will be less than present <br /> costs, particularly if three-li�;ht si�nals are used. It tivas decided <br /> to give this matter further consideration and to call a special <br /> meeting of the Board for j";ednesday morni�g, Dece�ber 16th. <br /> FIRE DEPkRTivTE1VT - Chief Freen present: <br /> l�7atters pertaining to the operation of the Fire Department were <br /> discussed v�ith the Chief. <br /> POLICE DEP�RTIJIEIQT - Chief Lane present: <br /> The Chief' reported a serious accident to the ambulance �vhen it <br /> was making a trip to the nospital ►•�ith G.n injured man and was struck <br /> at Chapin Street and V�lestern Avenue by a small Ford car and wrecked <br /> to such an extent that it is rendered absolutely out o�' cor,�nission <br /> and vrorthless. In discussing this matter tivith the Chief, the Board <br /> suggested thst he make arranger�ents tivith undertakers in the City to <br /> help out on our ambulance work until it can be established hoUr to <br /> finance the ne�v �bulance. <br /> The Board discussed with the Cnief tne purch.ase of six new <br /> cars for the Police Department. Bids i�;ere received from the following <br /> and it v�,�as decided- to purchase these six cars from Studebaker's after <br /> they made a concession of �100.00 from the original bid: + <br /> Gill-Vorn Chevrolet , Inc. <br /> 5 Chevrolet 1�37 Ivlaster Four poor Sedans, with <br /> extra equipr�ent �4,040.00 <br /> l�llowance for 5 old cars 780.00 <br /> Net �3,260.00 <br />
