After <br /> presenting the merits of their cars, the Board decided to take : <br /> the matter under advisement �fter consulting v�ith �he Chief of <br /> Police. <br /> Mr. VJilli�m E. Pov4ers of the National Brake Service, 225 West <br /> Jefferson Street, was present �nd requested that fifteen minute <br /> parking be established in f'ront of his place of business. This <br /> matter, after discussion, was referred to O�ficer Ernest lti�Iiller for <br /> investigation and report. <br /> WEIGHTS & l��iEkSURES DEPk�TPJIENT - rr7r. Burns present: <br /> Mr. Burns discussed vTith the Board matters concerning the <br /> vreighing of coal at this season of the year to inform the Board of <br /> the procedure necessary in establishing grades and weights. The <br /> Board requested him to brin� to their attention any serious <br /> infrQctions which he may discover. <br /> Mr. Burns presented his report of inspections for the ti�veek <br /> ending November 28, 1936, shotiving 273 inspeeti�ns made. <br /> FIRE DEPARTIti�TT - Chief Freeh present: <br /> The Chief brou�ht in charges against Fireman Valentine Jablonski <br /> for disorderly conduct, he bein; found in an intoxica�ed condition <br /> at the Notre Dame - NorthvJestern football game November 21st. <br /> Fireman Jablonski was c411ed in and the matter discussed. He acknowl- <br /> edged havin� been in this condition, and egplained his version of the <br /> reason therefore. The Board decided to take the matter under advise- <br /> �ent for another week before definitely deterr�ining their action in <br /> the matter. <br /> A petition, signed by a considerable number of Republiean party <br /> colored workers, was presented to the Board and a copy sent to the <br /> lt4ayor, requestin� that colored applica�ts for position on the Fire <br /> Department be given consideration in the fillin; of vacancies.
