South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Regular Meeting -December 7, 2007
6. NEW BUSINESS (CONT.) PusLic HEARING oN RESOLUTION No. 2398
A. Public Hearing
(1) continued...
Public Hearing Resolution No. 2398
The next resolution being considered is
Resolution No. 2398, Airport Economic
Development Area.
Mr. Gibney noted that the appropriation for
the Airport Economic Development Area is
for more than $27,000,000. He reminded
everyone that the AEDA TIF area was
expanded south this past year to include the
LaSalle Square, the Marycrest/Hurwich area,
and the former Sample-Ewing Development
Area, so the list of possible expenditures
include expenditures in those areas. Again,
at the top of the list are investments we must
make for such things as debt service. There
is also a lot of maintenance of infrastructure.
Other items of interest are the demolition of
Underground Pipe and Valve, acquisitions
related to Portage Prairie, and in the LaSalle
Square area, a million dollars for
infrastructure improvements and a possible
development project, a joint venture with St.
Joseph Regional Medical Center and
Memorial Hospital for a physicians' clinic on
Bendix Drive. Another project which isn't
on the budget, but may go forward is a 70+
unit senior housing project along Bendix in
LaSalle Square.
Ms. Jones asked if there was anyone from the
public who wished to speak regarding
Resolution No. 2398.
9
