Public Hearing <br />(1) continued... <br />(b) continued... <br />concerns and our commitment to the LaSalle <br />Square area and we are addressing those as <br />appropriate. <br />Mr. Gibney noted that he believes in <br />investment based on strategy. The strategy <br />will be presented to the Commission and <br />made available to the public. As part of the <br />strategy approach, we will be considering <br />leverage, public benefit, increase in tax <br />revenue, etc. As director of the Department <br />of Community & Economic Development he <br />promised not to bring any expenditures to the <br />Commission that are not connected to a <br />strategy. <br />Mr. Wolfson asked what role the public will <br />have in the development of the strategy. Mr. <br />Gibney responded that we will be meeting in <br />LaSalle Square for that part of the planning <br />as we did in the Northeast Neighborhood. <br />We'll advertise the meetings and have <br />professional planners to act on our behalf. <br />Mr. King stated that he believes the principal <br />use of TIF funds should be for development <br />and redevelopment in the city we have, and <br />to take care of situations that are currently <br />bad and negatively affect the quality of life <br />within the city, or limit our ability to attract <br />jobs and have the kind of economic and <br />social growth that we want in the city.
