�o � <br /> � <br /> � <br /> �.� <br /> with the OtBrien Varnish Company and they had given instructions to � <br /> their employees to park their cars at a convenient point on Orange <br /> Street rather than North Johnson Street. <br /> The Chief reported tha� 20 ft. loading zone at 115 and 116 Eas� <br /> �R�ayne Street for the Superior Store Fix�ure Company had been estab- <br /> lished according to instructions from the Board. <br /> The Chief reported that private taxi cab stand at the north�vest <br /> corner of Colfax Avenue and Michigan Street for Mr. Humberger had <br /> been established according to instructions from the Board. <br /> A communication ti�as received from Ernest H. Miller of the Accident <br /> Prevention Bureau �vith reference to three hour parking at 1901 South <br /> R�ain Street and 1126 South �Lafayette Street. He stated that these <br /> loeations were no different than many other places in that vicinity, <br /> due to employees of the various factories having no other plaee to <br /> park their cars. .After discussing the matter, it was referred to the <br /> Chief of Polioe for further investigation. , <br /> A oommunication was received from Officer Miller of the Accident <br /> Prevention Bureau enclosing letter from John W. Gibbons, Executive <br /> Secretary of the South Bend Civic Safety Council, requesting that a <br /> fund be set up for the purchase of traffic signs of various kinds for <br /> use in the City at an expense of �1,040.00. After discussing in <br /> detail the use to tivhich these signs are to be put and their practi- <br /> cability, the Board felt that no definite action could be taken at this <br /> time and the Secretary was instrueted to tivrite r�Ir. Gibbons of its <br /> action. <br /> Applications for position on the Police Department ��ere presented <br /> by �'rank E. Janko�vski and John Szilagyi and v�ere ordered placed on file. <br /> j"7EIGHTS 8c MEASURES DEPARTMENT - Mr. Burns present: <br /> Mr. Burns submitted his report of inspections made during the week <br /> ending September 12th, shov��ing 328 inspections.
