Erickson Co. , Inc. 40.80 <br /> FIRE DEPARTMENT - Chief Freeh present: <br /> The Chief reported that the matter rePerred to him for investi- <br /> gation regarding parking of bicycles in front of the Palace and <br /> Granada Theatres had been investi�ated and that arrangenents had . <br /> been made with the managers oP the Theatres to keep the sidetivalk <br /> -clear in the future. <br /> ELECTRICAL DEPARTI�NT - Mr. �ualls present: <br /> Mr. Qualls reported that the several matters referred to him <br /> recently regarding traffic si�nals in various �arts o� the City had <br /> not been fully investigated and that his report ti7ould be made at the <br /> next re�ular meeting. <br /> POLICE DEPARTP�IT - Chief Lane present: <br /> The Chief reported that some difficulty had been experienced <br /> on account of double parking of pleasure vehicles v�hich are used <br /> for delivery of inerchandise and suggested that a special tag be <br /> furnished o�vners of such vehicles, indicating that it is a delivery <br /> car. The Board authorized the purchase of two hundred cards to be <br /> issued to such owners, sho�ing all necessary information regarding <br /> the operation of the car �hich �ill enable the police to properly <br /> designate cars that are entitled to double parking consideration. <br /> The Chief of Police requested the privilege of sendin� Captain <br /> Bert Olmstead to the North�estern University Traffic Officers <br /> School which v�ill be held from October 12th for three �eeks. The <br /> Board authorized this arrangement and the expense to be charged to <br /> the Police Department Instruction Account. • <br /> � cornmunication vras received from �r. N. R. Bessel, Treasurer <br /> of the Iuar Nlain Corporation, requesting that the curb along the <br /> �vest side of the I�Zar I�Sain apartment building be set back, so that <br /> such space may be available for parking cars at an angle. After <br /> fully discussing this matter, no advantage nas found in cleanin� <br /> the streets at night and request g;as not granted. The Secretary <br /> �as instructed to notify �lLr. Bessel. <br /> A request vras received from G. R. �l'ierrill, operating Filling <br /> Station at 1117 Beyer Avenue, requesting that the curb on each side <br /> of his drive�ray be painted orange for distance of about three feet <br /> to prohibit parking close to the curb entrance, tivhich �as approved <br /> by the Board. <br /> A cor�munication was received from nine residents in the 700 <br /> block on East 6�enger Street subr�itting their appreciation for the <br /> cooperation of the Board in prohibiting all day parking in that <br /> block. The Secretary �as instructed to corn�nunicate vrith the <br /> petitioners and thank them for their letter. <br /> The ChieP reported on the pe.tition of property o�vners on <br /> North Johnson Street, �aho requested that all day parking be <br /> prohibited in front of their residences, that he had communicated <br />
