Busse of Paul's Bread Company was present with his attorney <br /> and requested the privilege of dropping small loaves of bread or buns <br /> � from the air �ith a parachute attached as an advertising feature. <br /> After discussing the matter fully and advising �Rr. Busse that their <br /> operations should be limited to the outskirts of the City and the <br /> dropping of these parcels to be well regulated so that no unnecessary <br /> hazards are created on the ground, permission �ras given to carry out <br /> � their plan. <br /> Mr. Krauss , of the Krauss Jewelry Store on North Nichigan Street , <br /> was present and complained about bicycles being parkecl on the side- <br /> walk in front of his store, making entrance to his store and passage <br /> of pedestrians practically impossible and dan�erous. Af ter Pully <br /> discussing the matter �ith the Chiefs of the Fire and Police Depart- <br /> ments, the question was referred to them �rith instructions to see the <br /> managers of the Theatres to ascertain if it v�as not possible for them <br /> to secure parking space for bicycles off of the sidewalk and street. <br /> Their report is to be submitted to the Board at its next regular <br /> meeting. - <br /> FIRE DEPARTMENT - Chief Freeh present: <br /> Matters pertaining to the operation of the Fire Department were <br /> discussed v�ith the Chief. <br /> , <br /> The Secretary brought to the attention of tne Board the matter of <br /> second payment on the Peter Pirsch 1000 gal. Pumper and in view of <br /> the fact that the Controller had the necessary funds to enable the <br /> pre-payment of this acoount, it was authorized in order to save three <br /> month' s interest amounting to �112.50. <br /> ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT - �i:ir.. �;ualls present: <br /> Mr. Qualls made a report of his trip to New York attending the <br /> Convention of the National Nunicipal Signal �ssociation. <br /> tipplication was received from Jack C. Andre�vs of Knox, Indiana, <br /> for position on the Radio Division of the Police Department. The <br /> matter �vas brought to �t�Ir. �,uall�' attention and the application is on <br /> file in the Board of Public Safety. <br /> �`lEIGHTS & �ASt1RES DEPgRT�NT - b�r. Burns present: <br /> Lir. Burns subrnitted his report of inspections made during the <br /> week ending September 5th, shotiving 324 inspections. This report is <br /> on file in the ofz"'ice of the Board oP Public Safety. <br /> POLICE DEPART��+fi1T - Chief Lane present: <br /> The Chief presented reports for the month of August of the <br /> South Bend--b4isha�vaka Police Radio ➢ivision, also report of the <br />
