TtTartin, Portage Tot�mship <br /> Attorney, �ith reference to fire protection in the adjoining townships. <br /> After a �ull discussion of the matter, it v�as tentatively agreed that the <br /> various torvnships would make arrangements to purchase the necessary fire <br /> �e��a�atus at an expense. of from �800.00 to �1,000.00 to be housed by the <br /> South Bend Fire Departinent and to be manned and used at its discretion <br /> either in fires in the townships or in the City. It was further <br /> arranged that I�r. Pd�artin �ould draw up an agreement betvreen the various <br /> tov�nships` and the Board of Public Safety, setting forth definitely the <br /> arrangement entered into. It was also agreed that Green Township and <br /> y�arren To�tnship, which t��ere not represented at this meeting, would be <br /> invited to �oin in the arrangement. <br /> The Chief again brought up the matter of No. 1 aerial ladder, <br /> setting forth the fact that it was very dangerous to use this ladder, <br /> and after thoroughly discussing the matter, it �vas regularly moved, <br /> seconded and carried that the City Attorney drativ up an Ordinance appro- <br /> priating from the General Fund the sum of y�750.00 Por the purchase of <br /> a new ladder, v�ith the understanding that such parts of the old ladder <br /> as can be utilized shall be used. <br /> ELECTFiI�AL DEPARTMENT - r3r. Qualls present: <br /> &7atters pertaining to the operation of the �lectrical Department <br /> were discussed and �ir. Qualls made various reports of his operations. <br /> �'dEIGHTS & ��A►SURES DEP�RTNIENT - Idir• Burns present: <br /> Ir1r. Burns presented his weekly report for the �reek ending July 3rd, <br /> showing number of inspections made of 362. This report is on file in <br /> the office of the Board of Public Safety. <br /> POLICE DEPARTMEDIT - Chief Lane present: <br /> A full discussion of the activities of the Yolice Department with <br /> reference to traffic violations in the city was had. The City �ttorney <br /> expressed his vievrs as to the operation of the hccident Prevention <br /> Bureau, and it v�as regularly moved by P�r. rroodv�ard, seconded by <br /> ��r.
