Board met <br />in <br />regular session at 7:45 <br />P.M. Mr. E. M. Morris being absent <br />'--first part of meeting, Mr. <br />A. <br />R. RicE,Vice President, <br />Acting President. <br />Communication received from Postal Telegraph --Cable Company of Chicago <br />Ill., in regard to poles and underground work on Vistula Avenue thisCity. The same <br />✓ was referred to the City Engineer to answer. <br />Street Commissioner reported on complaint of Councilman Goebel in regard <br />to sidewalk -extensions and curb at northeast, southeast and southwest corners of <br />Garst Street and Catalpa Avenue. The Board ordered that the same beput in by CitV <br />contractor. <br />The City Engineer presente'd the following report on alley snd the same was placed on file <br />until alley is graded. <br />To the Hon. Board of Public Works <br />of the City of South Bend, Indiana.: <br />Gentlemen: — <br />I have investigated the, condition of the a11_ey between Cushing Street and <br />Portage "Avenue a-s requested by your board. <br />The steps of house on lot #7 encroach about 1-1/2 feet into the alley. A <br />clothes line pole belonging to the ovrner of lot #7 also encroaches about 3 feet into t <br />the alley. <br />Der. Strickler has a pile of dirt on his property which partially obstructs <br />the alley. <br />This alley has never been graded. <br />Very respectfully, <br />FREDERICK J.-ANDERSON, <br />City Engineer. <br />The Board granted J. H. Cahill, Contractor for the Michigan. Street Trunk <br />sewer,under Improvenent Resolution No. 367 an extension of time for the completion of said <br />sewer -of three (3) weeks from September 20th- 915. As he had shorn sufficient reason fbr <br />said extension. <br />Presidlent. <br />f Vice President. <br />
