Mr. Kain
responded that the DTSB facade
improvement grant contributes 50% (up to
$25,000) of the cost of facade improvements
that are not considered maintenance,
including building enhancements that are
new architectural features. It does apply to streetscape
and landscape improvements
Mr. Varner asked if the money is committed,
whether there is commitment from all parties
that all this work will be done. Ms. Nicholl-
Smith responded that the work will be done
in two phases. The first phase will bring the
water across the street so the building can be
sprinkled. We have commitment that the
owner will put the risers in and Public Works
will provide the labor and equipment to get
that done. Once that is done, DTSB will
release the facade grant to the building
owner; each paying 50% of the $50,000
worth of improvements.
