Department: Serving our customers by inspecting, informing and ensuring a safe place <br />to work, play and live. <br />Century Center: Providing astate-of--the-art facility with excellent services to customers <br />while generating maximum economic benefit to our community. <br />TECHNICAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE <br />A second level of management (a level below department heads) was asked to give a "reality <br />check" to the citywide growth objectives. This group (the Technical Advisory Committee) <br />represented all major City divisions and met consistently for many months analyzing each of the <br />objectives. The Technical Advisory Committee's purpose was to make recommendations on <br />additions, deletions or modifications to those objectives. The committee used seven criteria to <br />evaluate each objective. <br />1) Compile data and use comparisons where possible to benchmark where we are <br />currently. <br />2) Assess the objective for reasonableness. <br />3) Determine if the objective is measurable., <br />4) Determine what costs are associated with the objective. <br />5) Make sure the objective is compatible with the overall strategic planning process. <br />6) Determine which departments should be responsible for the accomplishment of the <br />objective. <br />7) Identify what, if any, is the barrier to success. <br />CITYWIDE CORE VALUES <br />As a further step in the overall strategic planning process, the City identified key core values that <br />are interwoven with the City's overall mission statement, goals and objectives and departmental <br />purpose statements. <br />Guiding Principles: "We are merely the stewards of the City's assets. All assets of the City <br />belong to the residents." <br />• We are held to a high standard. Our actions meet the highest level of legal and ethical <br />tests. <br />• We are open and honest in all of our dealings. <br />• Our dealings with all of our fellow employees and customers are consistent, fair and <br />evenhanded. <br />• We consider the point of view of those who are affected by our decisions. <br />• Once a decision is made, we will quickly communicate our intended actions. <br />• We ask whether our decision will move us closer to accomplishing our mission. <br />Areas of Core Competency: "Our delivery of services is reliable." <br />• We take a leadership role. <br />• We are technically competent. <br />A-5 <br />
