Cottrell, Member <br />Eddie Miller, Member <br />AUGUST 17.2011 <br />The Board of Public Safety met in the regular meeting at 9:18 a.m. on Wednesday, August 17, 2011, <br />with Board Members Patrick Cottrell, Bruce Bondurant, Laura Vasquez, and Eddie Miller present. <br />Also present were Police Chief Darryl Boykins, Assistant Fire Chief Mark Nowicki and Board <br />Attorney Thomas Bodnar. <br />The meeting was held in the Board of Public Works Meeting Room, 13`h Floor County City <br />Building, South Bend, Indiana. <br />ACCEPT MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETINGS <br />Mr. Cottrell advised that if there were no objections by members of the Board, the Minutes of the <br />Public Agenda Session, Executive Session, and Regular Meetings of the Board held on July 20, 2011 <br />would be accepted as presented. <br />APPROVE RESOLUTION NO. 55 -2011 — COMMENDATION TO JUANITA M. DEMPSEY <br />Upon a motion by Mr. BonDurant, seconded by Mr. Miller and carried, the following resolution was <br />approved, commending the former Board of Safety President, Juanita Dempsey for her years of <br />community service. <br />RESOLUTION NO. 55-2011 <br />COMMENDATION TO <br />JUANITA M. DEMPSEY <br />WHEREAS, the Board of Public Safety wishes to issue Commendations to individuals who <br />perform meritorious and extraordinary services on behalf of the citizens of this Community, and; <br />WHEREAS, such service shall be recognized by the Board of Public Safety and appropriate <br />Commendation shall be presented to the individual performing said meritorious service. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that Commendation be given to: <br />JUANITA M. DEMPSEY <br />Juanita M. Dempsey lived in South Bend all her life and worked for 25 years at St. Joseph <br />Hospital as a respiratory therapist helping the sick recover from their illnesses and injuries. <br />Upon retirement she served in many community activities, including the Board of the <br />Northeast Side Community Center helping to resolve problems of and to assist the poor and others in <br />that area. <br />
