L <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2083 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE SOUTH BEND REDEVELOPMENT COMMISSION <br />COMMEMORATING THE CONTRIBUTIONS OF THE LATE JON R. HUNT, <br />ON THE OCCASION OF THE DEDICATION OF THE "JON R. HUNT PLAZA" <br />WHEREAS, the South Bend Redevelopment Commission ( "Commission ") is the governing <br />body of the City of South Bend Department of Redevelopment; and <br />WHEREAS, Jon R. Hunt served as Executive Director of the City of South Bend's <br />Department of Community and Economic Development from May, 1982 until his death on February <br />22, 2003; and <br />WHEREAS, Jon dedicated himself in service to the community since commencing his career <br />with the City in 1975, first as a Planner in Community Development, then as the Mayor's <br />Administrative Assistant under former- Mayor, Roger O. Parent and finally as Executive Director for <br />the Department of Community and Economic Development; and <br />WHEREAS, Jon was a long range visionary who worked tirelessly on behalf ofthe City and <br />strove to improve the quality of live for residents by his unselfish dedication to various community <br />and economic development initiatives; and <br />WHEREAS, Jon was instrumental in implementing hundreds of projects to the benefit of <br />the community, including, but not limited to the following: <br />Airport Economic Development Area; AM General Headquarters; American Home <br />Dreams; Blackthorn Corporate Park; Blackthorn Golf Course; Blue Heron;Bosch <br />Expansion Project; Boys and Girls Club; Business Development Corporation; Central <br />High School Apartments; Charles Martin Center; City Plan; City Housing Strategy; <br />Colfax Cultural Center; College Football Hall of Fame; Commerce Center; <br />Commercial Corridor Program; Coveleski Stadium; Community Revitalization <br />Enhancement District ( "CRED "); Crowe Chizek Expansion; Design Packaging; <br />Dunbar Corners; East Race Waterway; East Bank Development Area; East Bank <br />Emporium; Economic Development Professionals Network; Environmental Health <br />Labs; Expansion of the Riverwalk system; Frederick Juvenile Justice Center; <br />Fredrickson Park; Heartland; Housing Development Corporation; Ivy Tech State <br />College; Leighton Plaza; Macri's; Madison Center; Main/Jefferson Project; <br />McGladrey Building; Memorial Hospital; Model Blocks; Monroe Industrial Park; <br />Monroe Park Apartments; Monroe Park Development Area; Morris Performing Arts <br />Center and Palais Royale; Neighborhood Plans; Neighborhood Partnership Centers; <br />Neighborhood Housing Services; New Energy Ethanol Plant; New Housing <br />Construction - Near West Side, Southeast, Rum Village etc.; Neighborhood <br />Resources & Technical Services Corporation ( "NRTS "); Neighborhood Strategic <br />Planning Team ( "NSPT "); Oliver Plow Works; One Michiana Square; Reopening <br />of Michigan Street to traffic; Returning Jefferson, Washington and Wayne Streets <br />to two way traffic; Robertson's Apartments; Rum Village Industrial Park; Sample <br />
