1997 Kerasotes Theater (Showplace 16) opens on Chippewa. <br />(Moe, 2000 (Jan 29) L.S. Ayres closes for final time. <br />2001 Mid America takes over management of the Scottsdale Mall. <br />(Mar) Montgomery Wards closes. <br />2002 (Dec 20) South Bend Redevelopment Commission <br />designates the South Side Development Area. <br />2003 (Mar 21) South Bend Redevelopment Commission begins <br />designation process for the South Side Economic <br />Development Project District. <br />C. Project District Boundaries <br />The legal description of the South Side Economic Development Project <br />District is attached as Exhibit B and is represented by Map 3. In general, <br />the project district is located at the intersection of Miami Street and Ireland <br />Road and includes the northeast, southwest and southeast corners of that <br />intersection. The district extends south to Jackson Road and extends <br />east to west on the Bypass from York to the deceleration point of the <br />Michigan Street Bypass exit. The district also extends east to west along <br />Ireland Road from Ironwood Drive to Michigan Street and from those <br />intersection points south to the Bypass. The total acreage of the project <br />district is 217.70 acres. <br />D. Sub - District Descriptions <br />There are three sub - districts that have been defined within the South Side <br />Economic Development Project District. The three sub - districts follow <br />natural breaks at the intersection of Miami Street and Ireland Road. The <br />three sub - districts described in this plan are the Erskine Village Sub - <br />District, the Erskine Plaza Sub - District, and the Broadmoor Plaza Sub - <br />District. Each of these sub - districts contains a major shopping area and <br />the related sections of public rights -of -way that are adjacent to the sub- <br />district. The areas south of the Bypass are included into the adjacent <br />sub - districts located on the north side of the Bypass. A map of the sub - <br />districts is included as Map 4. <br />16 <br />
