South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Regular Meeting -March 3, 2006
6. NEW BUSINESS (CONT.)
B. Sample-Ewing Development Area
(2) Commission approval requested for
proposal for professional services in the
Sample-Ewing Development Area.
(Architectural, Oliver Plow Ct. and
Chapin St.)
Mr. Laurent noted that staff solicited a
proposal for an additional scope of services
for streetscape design on Oliver Plow Court
and Chapin Street. The Commission initially
approved an $8,500 proposal from Forum
Architects on July 17, 2006 to design and
publicly bid installation of entrance signage
for the Oliver Industrial Park. The work was
postponed when the bids came in on
demolition of the Stamping Plant. Now that
we've received some additional project
financing, we are ready to move forward on
the entrance sign. However, we would like to
expand the scope of services to include
design and bidding of sidewalk and tree
plantings along Oliver Plow Court and the
west side of Chapin St. Forum Architects
would also design a landscape buffer along
Arnold St. to soften the appearance of the
industrial park from the nearby St. Casimir
residential neighborhood. The cost of the
additional services is $6,800. Staff
recommends accepting the proposal.
Upon a motion by Mr. Hojnacki, seconded
by Mr. King and unanimously carried, the
Commission approved the request for
proposal for professional services and
accepted the proposal from Forum Architects
for the additional services the fee proposed.
COMMISSION APPROVED THE REQUEST FOR
PROPOSAL FOR PROFESSIONAL SERVICES AND
ACCEPTED THE PROPOSAL FROM FORUM
ARCHITECTS FOR THE ADDITIONAL SERVICES AT
THE FEE PROPOSED
8
