South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Regular Meeting -March 3, 2006
6. NEW BUSINESS (CONT.)
A. South Bend Central Development Area
() continued...
Would you proceed with your
development only if the city agrees to
all of the above? If no, please state
which of the above you would not
require.
Anwer: Stated in the direct response to
individual questions. We came up with
our best guesses here. We expect the
design charrette to achieve buy-in from
everyone on what gets done and who
pays for what.
Mr. Hojnacki: Are you saying there is
room for discussion, considerable room
for discussion, or...
Answer: I don't think there's any
question about that. This is a big project.
There are a lot of public pieces to it. I
don't want to imply that you don't have
to participate in it in a significant way,
because I think you do.
Mr. Hojnacki: My own opinion: we as a
public body have a responsibility to the
taxpayers, that we don't spend more
taxpayer dollars than we have to. At the
same time we understand that if anything
is going to happen, we're going to have
to pull the trigger on it. I probably am
more willing to spend money than others
on the Commission are.
Answer: We will do something,
someday, on the Wharf site, no matter
26
