South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Regular Meeting -March 3, 2006
6. NEW BUSINESS (CONT.)
A. South Bend Central Development Area
() continued...
• Build an "East Race Parking
Structure" to house 400 cars
Answer: Yes, to provide parking for
several office and commercial structures
on the East Race
• Build additional improvements to
Washington Street
Answer: That is not something that is a
part of the Ralph Jones Drive proposal.
That is something we picked up off of
earlier discussions when we were
planning the AM General addition. It is
not a critical element to our proposal;
rather, an accommodation of what we
understood to be City plans.
• Provide improvements to the Colfax
Bridge, including "overhead lighting
features, pavement upgrades, and side
bridge bump-outs"
Answer: Yes. Everything here is
cosmetic. Thankfully, the bridge has
been recently upgraded.
• Build a "Colfax Plaza... in
conjunction with the Corporate
Client's Headquarters, Retail Offices
and Waters Edge"
Answer: Yes. We hope to take a portion
of Sycamore Street and have a public
plaza there.
Mr. King: Are you expecting the City of
South Bend to build that plaza?
24
