South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Regular Meeting—June 28, 2011
6. NEW BUSINESS (CONT.)
B. South Bend Central Development Area
(3) continued...
basic reuse plan for the site and a project
timeline detailing aspects of the site
redevelopment and site improvements.
During the review process, emphasis will be
placed on compatibility with the goals and
objectives of the Monroe Park Neighborhood
as well as the Development Plan for the
South Bend Central Development Area. In
general, it is expected that the number of
units currently on the property will not
change. However, a preference for single-
family structures does exist and will be
encouraged. Any exterior modifications to
the structure should be in keeping with the
style and integrity of the Monroe Park
Neighborhood.
Mr. Sikora noted that the properties may
currently be occupied by tenants with an
existing month-to-month lease. Proposals
will need to take this into consideration and
provide at least thirty days notice to any
occupants should they be required to vacate
the property. Bidders are prohibited from the
use of the property for speculation or land-
holding purposes. The Bid Specifications
also state that all other provisions of the
South Bend Central Development Area
Development Plan must be met.
Upon a motion by Mr. Downes, seconded by COMMISSION APPROVED THE BID
Ms. King and unanimously carried, the SPECIFICATIONS AND DESIGN CONSIDERATIONS
Commission approved the Bid Specifications FOR 609 COLUMBIA STREET.
and Design Considerations for 609 Columbia
Street.
23
