South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Special Meeting — January 5, 2001
6. NEW BUSINESS (CONT.)
p. continued...
by and Between the South Bend
Redevelopment commission and
Studebaker Autoparts Sales Corporation
Dated January 7, 2000.
Item 6.p. was tabled.
q. Staff report on disposition of property in
the Sample Ewing Development Area.
Mr. Mariani explained that the staff has
received a proposal from DVB Properties
(Don and Vicki Black) to purchase 701
Pennsylvania for $1.00. The home is the
original homestead in that area. It is an
important historical home, but in need of
costly repairs.
Mr. Black explained that they intend to
rehab the home and convert it back to a
single family dwelling for eventual resale.
They are requesting that the City provide
water and sewer to the property (they have
been capped), as well as complete the
sidewalk and provide a driveway and
parking slab. They would also like the City
to provide the dumpsters for the tear -out and
scrap during the rehab. They have had a
termite inspection and termites were found,
so they would also like the City to pay for
termite treatment.
He noted that the cost of rehab has been
estimated at $60,000 to $70,000. They will
do most of the work themselves. They have
done this type of work for 20 years. They
expect to complete the work in
approximately six to eight months.
-10-
ITEM 6.P. WAS TABLED
