South Bend Central Development Area <br />(1) Commission approval requested for <br />Phase 1 Environmental Assessment in the <br />South Bend Central Development Area. <br />(216,218,228,230-237 Sycamore, 305 E. <br />Colfax, vacant lot and paved lot at <br />southeast corner of Sycamore and LaSalle <br />Streets) <br />Mr. Mathia explained that the staff is <br />seeking a Phase I environmental assessment <br />for the seven properties to determine the <br />need for any environmental actions that <br />might be needed before determining a fair <br />market value for the properties. It is <br />anticipated that the properties may be <br />acquired for construction of a parking lot to <br />support business growth in the East Bank. <br />Eventually a parking garage may be built on <br />the site. <br />Mr. Mathia noted that four proposals were <br />received: EIS Environmental Engineers, <br />$1,100 with a two -week completion; <br />Weaver Boos and Gordon, $1,200 with a <br />two -week completion; Envirocorp, $1,700 <br />5 <br />COMMISSION APPROVED THE SATISFACTION OF <br />OBLIGATIONS AND RELEASE OF MORTGAGE FOR <br />PROPERTY LOCATED AT 826 N.
