South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Regular Meeting —March 1, 2002
6. NEW BUSINESS (CONT.)
D. Sample -Ewing Development Area
(3) continued...
Ms. Greene advised that this is a
preliminary action only. It is establishing
the Commission's intent; if a bond is
issued and we would want to pay for these
preliminary costs from bond proceeds, this
resolution must be approved before it
could do so.
Upon a motion by Ms. Jones, seconded by
Mr. Kahn and unanimously carried, the
Commission approved Resolution
No. 1874 establishing the Commission's
intent to reimburse certain preliminary
costs from the proceeds of bonds.
(4) Commission approval requested to
sublease a portion of property at 410 W.
Sample in the Sample -Ewing
Development Area.
Ms. Kolata explained 410 W. Sample is
the building the Commission owns and
leases to Studebaker Auto Sales Corp,
Dennis Lambert is the business owner and
the proposed tenant is Bart Dewald, owner
of Dewald Bail Bonds. Mr. Dewald would
like to occupy the office at the corner of
Franklin and Sample, and would make
improvements to that office. Mr. Dewald
was previously under the impression that
Mr. Lambert was the owner of the building
and he had Mr. Lambert's permission to
put signs on the exterior of the building;
however, subsequent to that, Mr. Dewald
discovered that the Redevelopment
Commission was the owner of the property
16
COMMISSION APPROVED RESOLUTION NO. 1874
ESTABLISHING THE COMMISSION'S INTENT TO
REIMBURSE CERTAIN PRELIMINARY COSTS FROM
THE PROCEEDS OF BONDS.
