South Bend Medical Services District <br />There was no business in the South Bend Medical <br />Services District. <br />G. West Washington- Chapin Development Area <br />There was no business in the West Washington - <br />Chapin Development Area. <br />H. Other <br />(1) Commission approval requested for <br />Resolution No. 1914 approving a <br />Declaratory Resolution for the designation <br />of the South Side Development Area <br />(SSDA). <br />Mr. Schalliol requested that the Commission <br />not take action on Resolution No. 1914 until <br />its regularly scheduled meeting of <br />November 1, 2002. Mr. Schalliol then <br />presented a brief review on the concept of <br />Resolution No. 1914. The South Side <br />Development Area will be the first new <br />development area in the City of South Bend <br />in the past ten years. It will extend from <br />Ewing Street to the by -pass, and from the <br />railroad tracks west of Lafayette to just east <br />of Ironwood. Incorporated in the new <br />development area are existing project sites, <br />commercial corridors, and several proposed, <br />new development sites. When the area is <br />fully established, it will be declared a Tax <br />Increment Finance Area (TIF). Recent state <br />legislation now allows for a smaller area <br />declared as a Sales Tax Increment Finance <br />(STIF) District to be established within the <br />development area. All money generated from <br />15 <br />THERE WAS NO BUSINESS IN THE SOUTH BEND <br />MEDICAL SERVICES DISTRICT. <br />
