Project only <br />includes remediation and site cleanup. <br />Private funds must be raised for new <br />park and outdoor educational, <br />environmental classroom. <br />27. Received $100,000 US EPA grant for <br />UST fields program. Grant will be used <br />for site assessments of former gas <br />stations and other petroleum related sites <br />along the commercial corridors. IDEM <br />is still working on documents for this <br />program so money has not yet been <br />released. <br />28. Submitted initial proposal to US EPA <br />for $200,000 Assessment Grant, <br />$500,000 Revolving Loan Fund Grant, <br />$200,000 Cleanup Grant for stamping <br />IL plant, $200,000 Cleanup Grant for <br />interior remediation of Oliver Boiler <br />House and $200,000 Cleanup Grant for <br />remediation at LaSalle Park/Beck's <br />Lake. Expect to hear in January if we <br />are invited to submit a final proposal for <br />any or all of these projects. <br />29. Established Brownfields Team for City <br />of South Bend. Team has met four times <br />since September. Purpose is to prioritize <br />projects, improve communications, <br />coordinate activities, prioritize grant <br />applications and prioritize investment of <br />City resources. Team will be expanded <br />in early 2003 to include additional staff <br />from engineering, building department, <br />GIS, community and economic <br />development, County Health department <br />and others involved in brownfields <br />development. <br />30. Conducted Brownfields Data Base /GIS <br />training for approximately 15 people. <br />L -7- <br />
