South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Regular Meeting —June 6, 2003
6. NEW BUSINESS
C. Sample -Ewing Development Area
(2) continued...
that property, but Hill is no longer
interested in that land.
Hill has expressed an interest in
acquiring 10 feet of property from Raitt
Corporation, which owns property east
of Hill's current facility. That number
reflects both parties' desire to not
interfere with an AEP pole line running
north to south 10 feet east of the current
shared property line.
The proposed surface of the expanded
parking lot is crushed concrete or slag
material, which would require a variance
from the Board of Zoning Appeals. Hill
has requested that the Commission sell
some of its supply of crushed concrete
currently stockpiled at the Oliver site for
surfacing of the new parcel. The material
would be sealed to create a quasi -paved
surface. Hill has also requested that they
be allowed to construct the drainage of
the new surface to the old standard of
thirty gallons per one hundred square
feet of impermeable surface.
Staff recommends accepting the revised
proposal from Hill Truck Sales, Inc. with the
condition that the Board of Zoning Appeals
and the Building Department must approve
any variance in parking surface and drainage
requirements.
32
