VII. Business of Director St. Clair <br /> 1. Director St. Clair gave the Board a copy of an article a national architectural magazine <br /> about the Chris Wilson Pavilion. <br /> 2. Director St. Clair went over cost estimates for the Conservatory project. It totaled <br /> $1,066,000 and it is hoped to obtain funding yet this year. <br /> 3. The Healthy Communities Initiative will begin soon with two days of training for staff. <br /> 4. An Anti-Graffiti Project is being set up. With the help of the Common Council,we will <br /> be working to remove and prevent graffiti on public and private properties. This is a <br /> coordinated effort with other departments within the City, such as Code Enforcement,Legal, <br /> and Police. <br /> VIII. Comments by the Golf Operations Director <br /> 1. Mr.Nowacki reported that the Studebaker clubhouse roof will be repaired next week. <br /> 2. Golf equipment has gone out for bid with the Board of Public Works. <br /> 3. He is working with Per Mar Security to update the alarm systems at the golf courses. <br /> 4. Dan Butler has all the sand samples for the trap projects. <br /> 5. There are four GPS ads left to sell for the season. <br /> 6.New batteries have been installed in golf cars. <br /> 7. Irrigation systems are being prepared for the season. <br /> 8. The mechanics attended a two day OSHA safety seminar. <br /> 9. Aerifying will be done in the next three weeks for all the courses. <br /> IX. Comments by the Recreation Director <br /> 1. Spring programs are starting. <br /> 2. The Skate Park opened April 1. <br /> 3. Softball field rentals have started. <br /> 4. Leeper Tennis Center will open April 23. <br /> 5. There will be a fishing program at Leeper Park on Saturdays through June 4. <br /> 6. Easter egg hunts will be held at the Centers this weekend. <br /> 7. Advertising for the Blues Festival will be going up this week. <br /> X. Comments by the Maintenance Superintendent <br /> 1. Mr. Mike Dyszkiewicz informed the Board that seasonal workers are being hired. <br /> 2. Tennis courts are being removed at Kennedy Park. Old playground equipment is also <br /> being removed, <br /> 3. He has the assistance of many volunteer groups this year. Southgate Church has helped at <br /> Rum Village,Notre Dame participated in Communiversity Day, and the Keep South Bend <br /> Beautiful group cleaned Leeper Island and near the tennis courts. <br /> 4. Asphalt repairs will start at Walker Field. <br /> 5. King Center tennis courts will be removed and basketball courts installed. <br /> - -3 - - <br />
