South Bend Central Development Area <br />(1) continued... <br />issues be utilized to prepare the <br />specifications. They further recommended <br />that Wightman Petrie be considered for the <br />work. <br />In addition to the demolition specifications, <br />Wightman Petrie also proposed completing a <br />Phase II Environmental Assessment. Staff is <br />holding that proposal in abeyance until the <br />demolition is complete and a more detailed <br />inspection of the site can be made. However, <br />the Phase II proposal also included an <br />asbestos survey of the building. That survey <br />needs to be completed in order to prepare the <br />L� specifications for demolition. <br />The Redevelopment Commission is <br />requested to: (a) approve both Wightman <br />Petrie's proposal to prepare demolition <br />specifications for the Rink Building and <br />Wightman's proposal for the asbestos survey; <br />and (b) authorize funding up to $7,000 to <br />cover the cost of preparing the demolition <br />specifications at $5,500, and the asbestos <br />survey at $1,000 and contingencies at $500. <br />Staff recommends accepting the proposal <br />from Wightman Petrie for the demolition <br />proposal and asbestos survey at the funding <br />level of $7,000. <br />Upon a motion by Mr. Downes, seconded by <br />Mr. Hunt and unanimously carried, the <br />Commission approved the request for <br />professional services in the South Bend <br />Central Development Area and authorized <br />staff to retain Wightman Petrie based on the <br />scope of services and fee proposed. <br />8 <br />COMMISSION APPROVED THE REQUEST FOR <br />PROFESSIONAL SERVICES IN THE SOUTH BEND <br />CENTRAL DEVELOPMENT AREA AND <br />AUTHORIZED STAFF TO RETAIN WIGHTMAN <br />PETRIE BASED ON THE SCOPE OF SERVICES AND <br />FEE PROPOSED. <br />
