South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Regular Meeting — March 4, 2005
5. OLD BUSINESS
A. South Bend Central Development Area
(1) Receipt and acknowledgement of bid in
connection with property located at 237 N.
Michigan Street in the South Bend Central
Development Area. (former Hotel
LaSalle)
Mr. Mathia reported that at its regularly
scheduled meeting on February 18, 2005, the
Redevelopment Commission held a public
bid opening for the renovation and
redevelopment of the Hotel LaSalle located
at 237 N. Michigan. Two bids from A. J.
Patel and Scioto Development Company
were opened and acknowledged. At that
time, unknown to the Commission and to
staff, a third bid also had been submitted by
Mr. Tim Ellis and Mr. Richard Coleman.
After the February 18 meeting staff
discovered the third bid and upon further
investigation found that: (a) the bid had
arrived on time in the offices of the
Department of Community and Economic
Development; and (b) through no fault of the
bidders, the bid had been misrouted within
the Department.
Staff is requesting that the bid from Mr. Tim
Ellis and Mr. Richard Coleman be
acknowledged and that it be entered into the
public record of the Commission. In
addition, staff requests that the bid be
considered along with the other two bids
received for the renovation of the Hotel
LaSalle.
Ms. Greene explained that, in her capacity as
legal counsel to the Commission, she has
provided correspondence to Mr. Tim Ellis
3
THERE WAS NO OLD BUSINESS.
