South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Regular Meeting —April 1, 2005
6. NEW BUSINESS (CONT.)
A. Receipt of Bids
(1) continued...
Mr. Jim Frick from the South Gateway
Association addressed the Commission. The
South Gateway Association has been
supporting the Real Services project for
several years. It is anticipated that the
property located at 1101 S. Michigan will be
sold to Real Services by the UEA. The
property, purchased in 2004, is necessary for
the quality of the project Real Services wants
to build. South Gateway is hoping that the
new Real Services building, estimated in the
million dollar range, will also stimulate a
buyer for the Dudes and Darlings property.
The Real Services project is a big asset to the
neighborhood.
B. Tax Abatements
(1) Commission approval requested for
Resolution No. 2158 approving an
application for personal property tax
deduction for property located at
1710 North Sheridan Street in the Airport
Economic Development Area. (Hoosier
Tank)
Mr. Schalliol reported that the South Bend
Common Council approved a personal
property tax abatement for Hoosier Tank on
August 25, 2003. Hoosier Tank moved from
the location, by the Bosch facility, that the
abatement was approved for. The company
is now located at 1710 North Sheridan, the
former Gibbs Wire building. Hoosier Tank
has asked the City of South Bend to move its
tax abatement to the new location.
