South Bend Redevelopment Commission <br />Regular Meeting —April 1, 2005 <br />6. NEW BUSINESS <br />A. Receipt of Bids <br />(1) Receipt of Bids in connection with <br />property located at 1115 South Michigan <br />Street in the Sample -Ewing Development <br />Area. <br />Mr. Inks reported that one (1) bid was <br />received by the 10:00 a.m. deadline. The bid <br />was from Real Services. <br />Ms. Greene noted that the bid received does <br />conform to the requirements and is complete. <br />The bid proposal is signed and includes the <br />Statement For Public Disclosure, Affidavit of <br />Non - Collusion and the Performance <br />Guarantee. <br />Mr. Inks noted that the bidder has met the <br />minimum bid price of $43,000. <br />Mr. Les Fox of Real Services addressed the <br />Commission. Real Services wants to <br />primarily build its own kitchen. Real <br />Services currently serves approximately 225 <br />homebound people, elderly individuals who <br />might otherwise be institutionalized without <br />the provision of Meals On Wheels. In <br />addition, Real Services also has a program <br />consisting of fifty (50) sites located <br />strategically throughout a five county area <br />where 1,500 meals per day are served at <br />public housing, churches, etc. For various <br />reasons, Real Services has been forced to <br />relocate nine (9) times in the past several <br />years. During the nine relocations, Real <br />Services never missed a meal. A permanent <br />location with a kitchen has become a <br />necessity.
