South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Regular Meeting — June 17, 2005
No. 2171 is capturing both the requirements
of subsection 19 and subsection 20. It has
been the Commission's practice to attempt to
close a property transaction with the property
owner on an agreed and negotiated basis and
to utilize eminent domain only as a last
resort.
Upon a motion by Mr. Hunt, seconded by
Mr. Downes and unanimously carried, the
Commission approved Resolution No. 2171
related to acquisition of property in the
Sample -Ewing Development Area by
eminent domain. (704 E. Sample Street)
(2) Commission approval requested for
proposal for professional services in the
Sample -Ewing Development Area.
(Signage Design, Oliver Industrial Park)
Ci Mr. Laurent reported that staff solicited a
proposal from Forum Architects, LLC to
prepare design, construction and
specification documents for entrance signage
at the Oliver Industrial Park. Staff envisions
a monument /masonry sign that marks the
entrance to the park at the intersection of
Oliver Plow Court and Chapin Street. This
sign will have space for park developers to
mount individual business signage. The
proposal from Forum Architects meets the
desired scope of work including design,
construction documents, bidding and
construction observation. The total cost of
the proposal is $8,500.
Mr. Laurent noted for the record that the
proposed construction budget for the project
is approximately $75,000 rather than
$100,000 as stated in the proposal under
"Scope of Work ". The proposed
construction budget figure will be corrected
C, 15
COMMISSION APPROVED RESOLUTION NO. 2171
RELATED TO ACQUISITION OF PROPERTY IN THE
SAMPLE -EWING DEVELOPMENT AREA BY
EMINENT DOMAIN.
