South Bend Redevelopment Commission
LW Regular Meeting — July 15, 2005
6. NEW BUSINESS (CONT.)
C. South Bend Central Development Area
(1) continued...
and authorized staff to negotiate a
development agreement (SW corner of St.
Joseph St. and Jefferson Blvd.)
(2). Commission authorization requested to
use the Wayne Street garage in the South
Bend Central Development Area on
August 26, 2005. (Bike Night sponsored
by Club Fever /222 Italian Steakhouse)
Mr. Williams noted that Club Fever /222
Italian Steakhouse would like to hold a
benefit for the Shop with a Cop program on
August 26, 2005 on the rooftop of the Wayne
Street parking garage. There will be a disc
jockey for entertainment. Alcohol will be
served according to law. Security will be
provided by the FOP Lodge #36; Club Fever
will provide cleanup after the event; Club
Fever has provided a $500 security deposit
against damage to the garage; and a
certificate of insurance naming the City of
South Bend as an insured has been provided.
Ms. Greene noted that this use is a slight
departure from what the Commission has
allowed in the past. Usually the events
authorized to use Commission property are
sponsored by non - profit agencies. This is a
for - profit company working to benefit a non-
profit agency. Fifty percent of the gate and
10% of vendor sales will go to benefit the
"Shop with a Cop" program. Staff has
reported that the activity, if it is well handled,
will encourage the perception of the
downtown as an entertainment district.
cl 11
