Other <br />(2) Commission appointment to Blackthorn <br />Owners Association. <br />Upon a motion by Mr. King, seconded by <br />Mr. Hojnacki and unanimously carried, the <br />Commission appointed Gregory S. Downes <br />to serve on the Blackthorn Owners <br />Association. <br />7. PROGRESS REPORTS <br />Commission appointed Gregory S. <br />Downes to serve on the Blackthorn <br />Owners Association. <br />Mr. Inks noted that the Mayor's office held a press PROGRESS REPORTS <br />conference on the four Requests for Proposals we are <br />moving forward on. Today the Commission took action <br />on the third one of those. At the meeting on <br />November 4 the Commission will take action on the <br />Rink Riverside site. <br />Mr. Schalliol reported that development on the south <br />side is moving ahead quite rapidly. On November 1 <br />Bed Bath & Beyond as well as DSW Shoes are <br />scheduled to open in Erskine Village. In the South Bend <br />Tribune today Walmart announced its intention to begin <br />construction by mid - January. Lowes will be well under <br />construction by that time. <br />Mr. Schalliol also noted that the South Bend Tribune <br />reported on a south side drainage master plan proposed <br />for the Erskine Golf Course. The proposal is to improve <br />the drainage on the south side for the new development <br />there, while integrating the drainage by using a planned <br />project on Erskine Golf Course. The Park Board has <br />approved the project. We are in the process of getting <br />the design work done to go out to bid in December, with <br />construction to be completed by Memorial Day 2006. <br />Mr. King noted the significant progress the staff has <br />made in its Request for Proposals process.
