PUBLIC AGENDA SESSION JUNE 15, 2011 29 The Board of Public Safety met in the Public Agenda Session at 8:07 a.m. on Wednesday, June 15, 2011 with Board Members Patrick D. Cottrell, Bruce BonDurant, Laura Vasquez and Eddie Miller present. Board President Juanita Dempsey was absent. Also present were Assistant Police Chief Jeffery Walters, Fire Chief Howard Buchanon, and Board Attorney Thomas Bodnar. The meeting was held in the Board of Public Works Meeting Room, 1P Floor County City Building, South Bend, Indiana. Board members discussed the following items from that list: Addition to the Agenda Mr. Bodnar noted the addition of a U.S. Department of Justice Grant for the Police Department, to the agenda. He noted the grant requires a public review at a public meeting to be able to ask questions or make comments. Ms. Vasquez asked what the grant money would be used for. Chief Walters stated the Police Department will use the money to fund new video camera systems in patrol cars. Ms. Vasquez asked if the system will download directly to the mobile units. Chief Walters stated they will have to take out the flash drives and install them at the Police Station for now. Once wireless is installed, the patrol cars will be able to pick up the connection within a short distance from the station. Approve Extended Medical Leave Mr. Bodnar asked if the time off requested will be enough for full recovery for Patrolman James Taylor. Chief Walters stated it will be enough time to get back to restricted duty. He stated the injury is a result of a car crash that damaged Patrolman Taylor's knee. Eddie Miller, Member ATTEST: - 1-4nda M .Martin, Clark EXECUTIVE SESSION JUNE 15,_ 2011 The Board of Public Safety met in the Executive Session on Wednesday, June 1.5, 2011 at 8 :30 a.m. The meeting was held in the Mayor's Conference Room, 14`x` Floor, County City Building, South Bend, Indiana, for the purposes specified in I.C. 5- 14- 1.5 -6.1 (b) (2) (B) and (b) (b) (A). Board Members Patrick Cottrell, Bruce BonDurant, Laura Vasquez, and Eddie Miller were present. Board President Juanita Dempsey was absent. Also present were Assistant Police Chief Jeffery Walters, Fire Chief Howard Buchanon, and Board Attorney Thomas Bodnar. Board members did not discuss any subject matter other than the subject matter as specified in the Public Notice. The meeting adjourned at 8:45 a.m.
