Northeast Neighborhood Development Area <br />(1) continued.., <br />June 18, 2007 <br />Ike: Northeast Neighborhood TIF <br />Application <br />To the Members of the Commission.- <br />I am writing to express the support of the <br />University of Notre Dante for the Tax <br />Increment Financing (TIF) proposal <br />currently before the South Bend <br />Redevelopment Commission. Proceeds of the <br />TIF Are necessary to fund infrastructure <br />improvements essential to the redevelopment <br />of the Northeast Neighborhood (NEN). <br />Redevelopment of the NEN has been years in <br />the malting, and has benef ted from the <br />participation and support of many groups <br />and individuals. We appreciate the <br />opportunity to share our perspective on the <br />project and the necessity of the proposed TIF <br />district. <br />History and Context <br />The TIT Application before the Commission <br />and the development plan that underlies it <br />are the culmination of years of planning and <br />effort by an extraordinarily broad coalition <br />Of neighborhood institutions and residents: <br />The NENC: The Northeast Neighborhood <br />Council was formed in 1968 by residents <br />in an attempt to address the many <br />problems that had developed in the <br />Northeast Neighborhood: physical <br />
