ORDINANCE OF <br />THE COMMON <br />COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF SOUTH BENT) IN- <br />DIANA, TO AMEND <br />VARIOUS SECTIONS <br />OF CHAPTER 6, ARTI- <br />CLE 1, OF THE SOUTH <br />BEND MUNICIPAL <br />CODE ADDRESSING <br />PERMIT FEES AND <br />THE DEFINITION OF <br />PLUMBING CONTRAC- <br />TO R <br />STATEMENT OF <br />PURPOSE AND INTENT <br />On December 37, 1991, <br />the City of South Bend <br />and the County of St. <br />Joseph entered into an <br />agreement to merge their <br />building departments; <br />and further create the <br />"consolidated Building <br />Board". In 1993, by Or- <br />dinance No. 8412-93 <br />subsection 1, the Board <br />created the Building De- <br />partment as an enter- <br />prise fund. <br />It 'has been. determined <br />that in order to maintain <br />the enterprise fund, a fee <br />increase would be <br />needed as set forth in <br />this ordinance. <br />Now, therefore, be it or- <br />dained by the Common <br />Council of the City of <br />South Bend, Indiana, as', <br />follows: -- <br />Section 1 . ~Ch'apter ~',. ~ 6,~~ <br />Article ~ 1, Section 6- <br />4(b)(1)(2)(7)(8)(9j~'" ahd <br />(10) shall be amended to <br />re'2d as follows:- ~ " <br />(1)The fee for permits is- <br />sued for new construc- <br />tion and building addi- <br />tions shall be based <br />upon the square footage <br />of;such new construction <br />or~.addition at the rate of <br />eight cents ($0.08) per <br />square foot for the first <br />on'b hundred thousand <br />(100,000) square feet <br />arld six cents ($0.06) <br />per squ§re footfor each <br />additional square foot, <br />with a minimum permit <br />fee of $20.00. ~ '~ <br />(1)The fee for permits is- <br />sued for new construc- <br />tion and building addi- <br />tions shall be based <br />upon square footage of <br />such new construction or <br />addition at the following <br />rates: <br />a: Residential: Ten cents <br />($0.10) per square foot- <br />age for the first one <br />hundred - thousand <br />(100,000) square feet <br />and eight cents ($0.08) <br />per square foot for each <br />additional square foot, <br />with a minimum fee of <br />$20.00. <br />b.
