Communication from Community Animal <br />Rescue Effort (CARE) <br />Mr. Inks noted that the Commission received the <br />following letter from CARE in support of funding <br />the additional expenses for the animal shelter. <br />May 24, 2011 <br />Dear Ms. Jones, Dr. Varner and members of the <br />South Bend Redevelopment Commission: <br />1 am writing to express my support of the request <br />for an additional $300, 000 from the Airport <br />Economic TIF Fund for the construction of the new <br />South Bend Animal Care and Control (SBA CC) <br />facility. <br />Every year, the staff at the SBA CC Shelter <br />manages over 4, 000 animals. The officers, who <br />are available 2417, 365 days of the year, do their <br />best to answer all calls regarding stray animals, <br />lost animals, abused animals and neglected <br />animals. The kennel staff, that is available 7 days <br />a week, year round, does its best to provide <br />compassionate care for all the animals that find <br />their temporary home at the shelter. <br />7 <br />
