EXECUTIVE SESSION APRIL 13. 2011 20 <br />The Board of Public Safety met in the Executive Session on Wednesday, April 13, 2011, at 8:30 <br />a.m. The meeting was held in Classroom No. 1, Central Fire Station, 1222 South Michigan <br />Street, South Bend, Indiana for the purposes specified in I.C. 5- 14- 1.5 -6.1 (b) (2) (B) and (b) (6) <br />(A). President Juanita Dempsey and Board Members Bruce J. BonDurant, Patrick Cottrell, <br />Laura Vasquez, and Eddie Miller were present. Also present were Board Attorney '11mmas <br />Bodnar, Police Chief Darryl BoykinN and Fire Chief Howard Buchanon. Board members did not <br />discuss any subject matter other than the subject matter as specified in the Public Notice. Member <br />APRIL 133, 2011 <br />The Board of Public Safety met in the regular meeting at 9:17 a.m. on Wednesday, April 13, <br />2011, with President Juanita Dempsey and Board Members Bruce J. BonDurant, Patrick D. <br />Cottrell, Laura Vasquez and Eddie Miller present. Also present were Police Chief Darryl <br />Boykins, Fire Chief Howard Buchanan and Board Attorney Thomas Bodnar. <br />The meeting was held on the Apparatus Floor, Central Fire Station, 1222 South Michigan Street, <br />South Bend, Indiana. <br />ACCEPT MINUTES OF PREVIOES MEETINGS <br />President Dempsey stated unless there were objections, the minutes of the Agenda Review <br />Session, Executive Session, and Regular meeting of the Board held on March 16, 2011, and the <br />Special Meeting of March 23, 2011 would be accepted as presented. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />APPROVE PERMANENT PROMOTION —DAVID WELLS <br />In a letter to the Board, Chief Boykins recommended that Sergeant David Wells be promoted <br />permanently to the rank of Lieutenant effective May 12, 2011. Chief Boykins stated in his letter <br />that Sergeant Wells was placed in a special assignment as a Lieutenant in the Metro Homicide <br />Unit on May 12, 2010. His supervisor made an evaluation of the progress of Sergeant Wells, and <br />recommended permanent promotion based on his progress. Upon a motion made by Ms. <br />Vasquez, seconded by Mr. Miller and carried, the recommended permanent promotion was <br />approved. <br />APPROVE PERMANENT PROMOTION — PATRICK IIECHLINSKI <br />In a letter to the Board, Chief Boykins recommended that Patrolman Patrick Hechlinski be <br />promoted permanently to the rank of Sergeant effective April 28, 2011. Chief Boykins stated in <br />his letter that Patrolman Hechlinski was placed in a special assignment as a Sergeant in the <br />Crime Prevention Unit on April 28, 2010.
