Dr. Kelly made a motion to approve the chemical and fertilizer bids as presented by staff. <br /> Mr. Mullins seconded the motion and it was passed. <br /> IV. The next order of business was new business. <br /> 1. Request to Approve Arborist Licenses <br /> The following license applications were presented for approval by the Board: <br /> a. Alex's Take Down Tree Service (New) <br /> b. TLC Tree Removal <br /> c. Underly Tree Service <br /> Mr. Mullins made a motion to accept the renewals of the Arborist Licenses and Dr. Kelly <br /> seconded the motion. It was passed <br /> 2. Requests for Use of Parks-Betsy Harriman <br /> Ms. Harriman requested the Board approve the following requests: <br /> a. Howard Park- 5/7/11-MS Walk <br /> b. Howard Park- 8/5 - 8/6/11- On the River Group <br /> Dr. Kelly made the motion to approve the above request pending staff approval and it was <br /> seconded by Mr. Mullins. The motion was approved. <br /> 3. Request to Approve Sale of Alcohol at Arts Everywhere Concert Series by Fiddler's <br /> Hearth-Paula Garis <br /> Ms. Garis requested permission for Fiddler's hearth to sell beer and wine at the Arts <br /> Everywhere Concert Series at Potawatomi Park. This was requested by the Community <br /> Foundation. They are aware of the requirements. <br /> Dr. Kelly made a motion to approve the request. The motion was seconded by Mr. <br /> Mullins and passed. <br /> 4. Healthy Communities Research Group Update- Teresa Penbrooke, Greenplay,LLC <br /> Ms. Penbrooke gave a presentation on the Healthy Communities Initiative that our <br /> department will participate in. We will be a beta site for the project in conjunction with <br /> Indiana University. This will be national project. <br /> Mr. Mullins made a motion to approve the contract for healthy Communities subject to <br /> approval by the Legal Department. Dr. Kelly seconded the motion and it was passed. <br /> 5. Request to Use Ravina Park for a Community Garden- Sara Stewart <br /> Ms. Stewart made a presentation about Unity Gardens and its impact on neighborhoods <br /> and South Bend. She requested permission to use Ravina Park for a garden. <br /> Mr. Mullins made a motion to approve the request for the use of Ravina Park for a Unity <br /> Garden. Dr. Kelly seconded the motion and it was passed. <br /> 6. Request to Open and Award Quotes for Elbel Well Drilling-Randy Nowacki <br /> Mr.Nowacki presented three sealed quotes for drilling a new water well at Elbel Park Golf <br /> Course. The current well requires annual cleaning at the cost of approximately $18,000 <br /> per year to maintain a flow rate that is sufficient for irrigation. <br /> The quotes were opened and read aloud. They were: <br /> a. Cook Drilling- $36,223 <br /> b. Preferred Pump- $29,501.21 <br /> c. Peerless Midwest- $26,988 <br /> - - 2 - - <br />
