4. Out of 130 members of the South Bend Swim Club, 37 are going to the state meet. <br /> 5. Camp Awareness sign up will be held on March 1 and Kid's World will be March 3. <br /> 6. The Ice Rink lost the ice on Friday,but it was OK by Sunday. It will be open as <br /> weather permits. <br /> 7. The City Wellness program has 169 employee participants and 9 family members. <br /> XI. Comments by Development Director <br /> 1. Mr. Payton informed the Board that the department has received a $5,000 grant for <br /> the Blues Fest from the Convention and Visitor's Bureau. <br /> 2. The CAPRA report will be filed in March. <br /> 3. Mr. Matthew Moyers reported on the Healthy Communities Initiative that we will be <br /> participating in. It is in conjunction with Indiana University. We will be a beta site <br /> for this study. The goal is to evaluate the community and find possible impacts the <br /> Parks and Recreation Department could make on the health and wellness of the 10- <br /> 14 age group. <br /> It is a three year project. <br /> XIL Comments by the Maintenance Superintendent <br /> 1. Mr. Dyszkiewicz reported that snow removal is going well. <br /> 2. The old lights from Coveleski Stadium will be used at Boland field. <br /> 3. There is a crack in the boiler at the Greenhouse. The new heaters will be able to heat <br /> the area. <br /> 4. Lights at the King Center basketball courts will be installed. Discussions are being <br /> held about converting some of their tennis courts to additional basketball courts. <br /> 5. Six fans have been donated from Zoo Fans and are being installed at the Greenhouse <br /> to circulate the air. <br /> 6. Communiversity Day will be held April 2. We will be helping. <br /> 7. Mr. Dyszkiewicz asked about an easement at Boland Park. Mr. Bodnar said that <br /> nothing can be done until the deed is verified. He has been in contact with the <br /> county attorney regarding it. <br /> Dr. Kelly made a motion to authorize the President of the Board or the Vice <br /> President in his absence to execute the utility easement to AEP for Boland Park <br /> subject to legal signing off. Mr. Mullins seconded the motion and it was passed. <br /> 8. Mr. Dyszkiewicz requested the Board approve the purchase of heavy equipment as <br /> recommended by staff subject to the budgeted lease purchase. <br /> Mr. Mullins made the motion and Dr. Kelly seconded it.
