SOUTH BEND BOARD OF PARK CONMUSSIONERS <br /> REGULAR MEETING <br /> FEBRUARY 22, 2011 <br /> The Board of Park Commissioners of the Park District of the City of South Bend, Indiana met on <br /> Monday February 22, 2011 at the O'Brien Administration&Recreation Center, 321 E. Walter St., <br /> South Bend, Indiana for its regular meeting. Notice of the date,time and place of the meeting were <br /> duly given as required by law. <br /> Park Board members present were as follows: <br /> Mr. Robert Goodrich,Vice President <br /> Dr. Thomas Kelly <br /> Mr. Garrett Mullins <br /> Park Board members absent were as follows: <br /> Mr. Robert Henry,President <br /> Staff members present: Phil St. Clair, Superintendent; Bill Carleton,Fiscal Officer; Susan <br /> O'Connor,Recreation Director; Randy Nowacki,Director of Golf Operations; Terry DeRosa,Zoo <br /> Director; Richard Payton,Development Director; Mike Dyszkiewicz,Maintenance Superintendent; <br /> Matthew Moyers, Special Projects Manager; Paula Garis, Special Events Supervisor; Thomas <br /> Bodnar,Park Board Attorney <br /> I. The meeting was called to order by Board Vice President Robert Goodrich at 4:10 p.m. <br /> IL The first order of business was the interviewing of interested citizens. <br /> 1. Mr. Donn Reinke,representing the Mercenaries Rugby Club, addressed the Board <br /> and requested more fields be available in the South Bend area. <br /> 2. Mr. Jim Martindale,vice president of the Potawatomi Zoological Society,presented <br /> the Board with a copy of their proposed memorandum of understanding. <br /> 3. Mr. Trevor Gaffer,Potawatomi Zoological Society Board member, gave a short <br /> presentation on the Eco roof that will be installed on the new otter exhibit building. <br /> He requested the Board approve the agreement between the Society and the Park <br /> Department regarding the roof. <br /> Dr. Kelly made a motion to approve the agreement as presented. Mr. Mullins <br /> seconded the motion and it was passed. <br /> 4. Ms. Catherine Hohstetler, Treasurer of the Botanical Society of South Bend, <br /> presented their annual report. They recorded 2,214 visitors last year. <br /> Mr. Greg Kil, of Kil Architecture Planning, gave an update on the heating <br /> improvements that have been made recently to the facility. <br /> 5. Ms. Sara Stewart of Unity Gardens gave a power point presentation on the Unity <br /> Garden concept and how it has grown in our community. <br /> - - I - - <br />
