South Bend Redevelopment Commission <br />Regular Meeting —March 8, 2011 <br />As Ignition Park awaits its first private <br />business, staff request continued investment <br />in communications services to build on the <br />current momentum. Therefore, a one -year <br />consulting agreement with The Blue Waters <br />Group in the amount of $580,500 is <br />proposed. About half of that amount will be <br />placed in contingency to maximize flexibility <br />and the potential to respond quickly to <br />emerging opportunities. This fourth phase of <br />work would be in effect from March 1, 2011, <br />through Feb. 28, 2012. It features three <br />components of work activity: <br />1. Expand SouthBendON.com and continue <br />production of the monthly e -mail <br />newsletter to build awareness of the <br />Ignition Park brand: $150,000 <br />2. Expand the use of media outlets to market <br />Ignition Park and encourage private - <br />sector investment: $150,000 <br />3. Develop and act on recommendations <br />funded by a contingency that would <br />support the emerging Ignition Park <br />business plan and other strategies now <br />under development: $280,500 <br />Mr. Strickler reported on the impact of <br />services so far and addressed plans for the <br />coming year. The initiative began two years <br />ago when, with the Commission's support a <br />large empty field, a dream and the slowly <br />emerging position of Notre Dame as a <br />leading research university. South Bend <br />turned the corner two years later with the <br />arrival of Data Realty and investment in the <br />park fulfilling the whole promise of research <br />going through Innovation Park and landing in <br />Ignition Park and creating jobs, adding to the <br />tax base.
