458 <br />The engineer reported on the following and the same was referred to the Street Com— <br />missioner for investigation. <br />In regard to the attached letter from the Health Department, referring <br />to the condition of the alley between the Nickel Hotel and the Derbin Cafe. I beg to <br />report that there is Flo sewer in the above alley near to private alley back of the Derbin <br />Cafe. There is an inlet near the west cross —walk at Main Street which will take care of <br />all the water which fall in the alley, but I find thatthe pavement is uneven and con— <br />siderable water stands along the gutter line. I believe if the street commissioner was <br />ins tructed to level up the pavement that would remove all the objections* <br />Very truly, <br />WM.S.MOORE, <br />City Engineer. <br />The Engineer filed the following report, <br />Regarding the petition of H. S. Cover asking to have Chippewa Avenue <br />✓ improved. I beg to report that I have investigated the matter and I recommend that <br />the said street be graded and curb from Michigan Street to the City limits. <br />Very truly <br />WM. S . -M00RE <br />City Engineer. <br />ThThe Board decided that the above improvement was unnecessary at this time and the <br />same was placed on file. <br />Petition was filed with the Board for a pipe sewer on Parry,Francis <br />and one block on Division Street from Division Street to St. Joseph River. The Board <br />✓ referred the same to the City Civil Engineer for a resolution. <br />The Street Commissioner reported on extensions of sidewalks at N.E. <br />S. E. and S. W. corner of Bronson and Carroll Streets. The Board ordered City Contractor <br />,/notified to. repair or put in same. <br />In regard to complaint received about <br />Calvert <br />& Kline Street having <br />been left in a <br />rough condition after water mains were put <br />in, also no cross walks, the <br />,,,Street commissioner <br />reported that Foreman Schroeder will <br />fix the <br />above with the grading <br />gang at once. <br />Communication from Richard J. Genge in <br />regard <br />to electric street <br />light at corner <br />of Vistula Avenge and Caroline Street. The same <br />was read and placed on <br />✓ file. <br />Petition filed with the Board for a street light on W. Division St. <br />,/at the corner of Anthony Street on May 12th.,1914. was cgntinued for thirty (30) days. <br />Communication received read , and referred to the Pole and Wire In— <br />spector, Thomas Beaning, in regard to the Bell and Home Telephone Company 's placing their <br />v- poles i i side of the curbq for a report. <br />Communication received from the Indiana and Michigan Electric Company <br />V�oliciting the number of are lamps in the underground district and the total number <br />of lamps to be installed, so that they could sign up contract for underground. work. The <br />same was filed. <br />Bond and contract for pipe sewer on Indiana Avenue from Carroll <br />Street to Miami Street under improvement Resolution No. 326, signed by L. H. Webster <br />✓ as Principal and The London & Lancashire Guarantee & Accodent Company of Canada as <br />sureties, was approved by the unanimous consent of the Board. <br />Mr. C. D. Emmons, Mgr. of the Chicag, South Bend & Northern Indiana <br />Ry. Company was ordered notified to be present at the meeting of the Board to be held <br />on Tuesday August 25th.,1914 at 10:00 A.M. <br />
